Join us to learn more about the pollinators in your backyard. This presentation will cover some of the nesting habits of native bees as well as how to recognize some of our common bees and other pollinators in Alaska. It also covers some ways to attract pollinators and how to be good pollinator stewards in your own gardens by planting for pollinators and managing invasive plants. Meet the Southcentral Growers Conference Keynote speaker, Sam Knapp of Offbeet Farm in Fairbanks!
Sam will present on Friday, April 25 at 6:30 p.m. at the Kachemak Bay Campus in Homer as well as via Zoom.
Sam will talk about why Alaskan farmers should consider storage farming and share insights from Offbeet Farm, his winter-focused storage farm in Fairbanks. Sam will also describe some of the details of planning and running storage farms he learned while writing "Beyond the Root Cellar," a book aimed at teaching market growers how to do winter storage at commercial scales.
