The Alaska Flour Company (AFC), founded by Bryce Wrigley and his family in Delta Junction, is a pioneering force in Alaska's agricultural landscape, emphasizing sustainability and health. As the only commercial flour mill in Alaska, AFC is dedicated to producing high-quality, locally grown barley products. The company employs sustainable farming practices such as no-till farming and cover cropping, which enhance soil health, reduce erosion, and contribute to food security in Alaska. Their barley is rich in essential nutrients, including fiber and beta-glucans, which help lower cholesterol and stabilize blood sugar levels. By focusing on local production, AFC reduces reliance on imported goods and supports the local economy. AFC offers delicious barley-based products, from breakfast cereals to baked goods, all of which are 100% whole-grain, stone-ground, and free from additives and preservatives.

Jenn Dera of Crooked Creek Birch Syrup
Date & Time: February 15, 2025, at 1 PM
Location: Kenai Peninsula College
Join us for an exclusive event to celebrate the art and craftsmanship of Crooked Creek Birch Syrup. Meet Jenn Dera, co-founder and driving force behind this renowned Alaska-based company, as she shares the story of how a recreational hobby transformed into a thriving family business. Learn about the labor-intensive journey of harvesting birch syrup from the snowy boreal forests of Kasilof, Alaska. For three intense weeks in early spring, our team carefully taps the majestic Alaska Birch trees (Betula neoalaskana) to collect the precious sap, which is then transformed into a unique and flavorful syrup. This process, requiring 110 gallons of birch sap to produce just one gallon of syrup, is a testament to our commitment to sustainable practices and high-quality craftsmanship. The birch syrup is produced in small batches, capturing the complex flavor with notes of brown sugar and molasses. Bring a friend and bring your questions.
